The party president said that the process for selecting suitable woman leader for the post of the DCC President and the office-bearers of the DCC has already begun adding that this is to ensure that the party has sufficient representation of women leaders as per the vision and mandate of the party high command and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Markam also stated that the names of leaders for the executive body of the CPCC are being finalised. Though the names in the executive body of the CPCC and the DCC Presidents were finalized twice earlier also but the lists had to be withdrawn since the list did not have the sufficient representation of woman leaders which is 33 per cent as mandated in the DCC, he said. After Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s return from America, the names for the executive body of the CPCC is likely to be finalized but the announcement may be delayed till the completion of the budget session of the state assembly, said the Congress leader. Asked on the political appointments in boards, corporations and commissions, the CPCC President indicated that the new executive body of the CPCC would be formed at first and after that, the political appointments would be made in boards, corporations and commissions.

Replying to another query on new challenges before the party after winning two by-elections and civic bodies elections, Markam said that as the party president, his first priority would be to restructure the party organization and to strengthen it further besides taking the party’s reach influence further upto the booth level. “Congress is eyeing on 2023 assembly elections. In this direction, we will work to connect the common people with the party so that the Congress could repeat its magic of 2018 even in 2023 assembly elections,” stated Mohan Markam.
