For Zilpe family from Nagpur, the joy of wedding turned into a nightmare as four persons of the marriage party, including grandmother of the bridegroom, were killed and several others injured in a mishap in the wee hours of Saturday. The mishap occurred near village Singori under the jurisdiction of Mouda Police Station in Nagpur district. Zilpe family from Nagpur had gone to Tiroda in Gondia district for the wedding ceremony of Amit Pravin Zilpe on Friday night.

After the marriage, Zilpe family members, relatives and friends were returning to Nagpur in a private travels bus (MH-31/CQ-8548). At 2.30 am on Saturday, they had started for Nagpur. Around 4.45 am, near village Singori, the driver lost control over the bus and hit a stationary container (MH-49/AT-3855). The impact was so severe that the left side of the front portion of the bus got damaged badly.
 
Around 20 of the passengers sustained injuries. Four of the passengers, including grandmother of the bridegroom Vithabai Tukaram Zilpe (72), a resident of Plot No 35, Vishwakarma Nagar, Manewada Road, died in the mishap. Three others who lost their lives in the accident included Karuna Vijayrao Khonde (58), a resident of Shatabdi Chowk, Nagpur; Anand Rameshrao Athawale (28), a resident of Rambag, Nagpur; and Satish Jambhulkar (35), a resident of Gondia. Of the injured persons, Tejas Satish Jambhulkar (08), Ashok Gajanan Bagde (55), and Preetam Mansaram Shende (20) were shifted to a hospital in Bhandara. Their condition is said to be stable.
 
The other injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. On getting the information, police team from Mouda led by PI Madhukar Gitte rushed to the spot and cleared the way and arranged to send the injured to hospitals. Arvind Tukaram Zilpe (49), a resident of Plot No. 35, Vishwakarma Nagar, Manewada Road, who works as a police constable in Crime Branch of Nagpur City Police, gave a complaint at Mouda Police Station.
 
Based on the complaint, Mouda Police registered offence under Sections 110, 283, 279, 337, 338, 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 184, 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act against the container driver for parking the vehicle dangerously on the road, and against the travels bus driver for driving the bus carelessly.
