TRANSLOCATION of a herd of 13 swamp deer was successfully carried out from Kanha Tiger Reserve to Satpura Tiger Reserve, Hoshangabad, on Sunday. The herd of swamp deer includes 11 bucks and 2 hinds which were captured and transported under the direction of Field Director of Kanha Tiger Reserve L Krishnamurthy. Capture operation was carried out by a combined team of officers and employees of Kanha Tiger Reserve and Satpura Tiger Reserve under the supervision of team of veterinarians.
 
The Central Government and Madhya Pradesh Government had given approval for translocation of swamp deer. Preparation for capturing and translocation of swamp deer was carried out under the supervision of subject experts. A team of experts inspected the captive area and analysed topography and climatic condition for translocation of swamp deer from Kanha to Satpura. On the basis of detailed analysis, translocation of herd of 13 swamp deer was carried out at captive area. Translocation of 33 swamp deer was carried out at Satpura Tiger Reserve.
