AS many as 48 police officials and personnel from Durg police were felicitated under Indradhanush scheme of Chhattisgarh Police at a specially organised function for successfully solving the burglary, occurred at Parakh Jewelers, Akashganga and the triple murder case, reported from Talpuri International Colony in Bhilai. Director General of Police (DGP), Chhattisgarh D M Awasthi graced the occasion as chief guest while Inspector General of Police (IGP), Durg Police Range Vivekanand Sinha presided over the function. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Durg Ajay Kumar Yadav was present as a special guest at the function, held at Police Control Room, Bhilai on Sunday.
 
Speaking on the occasion, DGP Awasthi said that appreciation for notable works or contribution plays a vital role in any organisation or department to motivate officials and personnel to put in their best. It was the propriety behind bringing in Indradhanush scheme and with its launching it paved way for better change. It remarkably changed the image police among populace and also the perception. While underling the change DGP, Awasthi also said that even police officials and personnel want to continue to serve in naxal unlike earlier to get the citation under Indradhanush scheme for a special remark in their respective service roll. In his address IGP, Sinha said that as per provisions of ‘Indradhanush’ scheme the police officials and personnel with ten citations to their credit are awarded with the title ‘Best Policeman of Chhattisgarh’ and their name with photo granted place at the special plaque at Police Headquarter, Raipur.
 
He lauded Durg police for solving two challenging crimes including the burglary of Parakh Jewelers of Akashganga and triple murder of Talpuri Colony. At the outset DGP, D M Awasthi was accorded a warm welcome. SSP, Ajay Kumar Yadav delivered the welcome address.
 
He said that after resuming office DGP, D M Awasthi introduced ‘Indradhanush’ scheme on April 01, 2019 and the core objective behind launching the scheme is to give due appreciation to police officials and personnel with exemplary work to their credit and at the same time to motivate fellow police officials and personnel. It is a matter of pride for police officials and personnel of Durg to deserve the citation under the scheme with solving the two challenging crimes. In the course of programme DGP, Awasthi presented citations to police officials and personnel for solving complicated cases in minimum possible time. Rohit Kumar Jha, ASP (City) proposed the vote of thanks. The family members of police officials and personnel were specially invited at the programme.
