Kejriwal shares stage wit

NEW DELHI,
WHEN Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal took oath in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan along with his six ministers on Sunday, sharing the stage with them were 50 common people, who were designated as “Delhi ke Nirmata” by the party. The first of its kind initiative, Delhi ke Nirmata (Builders of Delhi) includes a list of safai karamcharis, students, teachers, doctors and bus marshals,. Of the list of the special guests, 24 were from the field of Education, health, NGOs, social welfare and transport. These include: Manu Gulati -- A mentor teacher with several awards, including the Martha Farrell Award, 2019 for women empowerment and a recipient of the National Teachers Award, 2018 by MHRD.

Murari Jha -- A mentor teacher, having worked as a teacher for 10 years, is a recipient of the Education Minister’s Special Award, 2017. He represents around 200 mentor teachers of Delhi government schools, who have played a leading role in implementation of all curriculum reforms. Chitender Singh Verma -- Head of a Delhi government School, Verma holds a PhD in Zoology from Meerut University. He has been a core member of the Happiness curriculum committee, and played an integral part in designing its framework. He also received the State Best Teacher award from Delhi Government in 2013, along with a string of National and state level awards in the field of Education.

No women in Arvind Kejriwal’s new cabinet: DESPITE the fact that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to clean sweep in the recently-concluded 2020 Delhi Assembly polls with eight women candidates winning, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s new Cabinet does not have a single woman. This, even as eight AAP women candidates — Atishi Marlena, Rakhi Birla, Raj Kumari Dhillon, Preeti Tomar, Dhanwati Chandela, Parmila Tokas, Bhavna Gaur and Bandana Kumari emerged victorious in the 2020 Assembly polls. Also, AAP’s poll campaign had put the spotlight on women’s issues- free bus rides for women, safety etc. This year, AAP had fielded nine female candidates out of which only woman candidate Sarita Singh from Rohtas Nagar suffered defeat. In 2015, the party had fielded six women candidates, all of whom won the election.

Junior Kejriwal steals the show at swearing-in ceremony

NEW DELHI :

WHILE Arvind Kejriwal was busy taking oath for the third time as Delhi Chief Minister, ‘junior Kejriwal’ stole the show at Ramlila ground, drawing attention from the large crowd. Avyaan Tomar, who was a special invitee at the ceremony, prompted AAP leaders Raghav Chadha and Somnath Bharati to get selfies clicked with him. Tomar was wearing a red sweater, black muffler and spectacles and moustaches, completing his appearance as the Delhi Chief Minister. Inviting him to the function, the AAP had tweeted, “Big Announcement: Baby Mufflerman is invited to the swearing-in... . Suit up Junior”.

This isn’t the first time that the couple, Rahul and Meenakshi Tomar, have shown their support for the party by dressing their child as the AAP chief. Five years earlier, their then four-year-old Fairy Tomar had made a similar appearance, and the ‘Little Kejriwal’ video went viral. More ‘Mufflermen’ make beeline for Ramlila Maidan: AFTER Delhi resident Avyaan Tomar hogged the limelight by wearing an attire similar to that of Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal during winters, other similarly dressed children were seen making way to the Ramlila Maidan to take part in Kejriwal’s oath-taking ceremony.

One such child, Zaid Hussain, donning a Kejriwal attire, stood in a queue to enter the venue. “We have come here from Bawana. Kejriwal has done good work in our constituency. Kejriwal zindabad,” said his mother Ruksana Begum. Zaid obliged dutifully when she directed her son to repeat the slogan in favour of Kejriwal.
