Rotary Club of Nagpur, along with the Department of Social Welfare- Zilla Parishad, organized ‘UDAAN’- A Day Long Event for Specially Abled Children. Every year Rotary Club of Nagpur celebrates Valentine’s Day with specilly abled children to motivate and support these children in sports and to boost their confidence. This year again, around 750 special children, from 36 specially abled schools, took parts in various sports activities. These include deaf and mute, blind, mentally challenged and physically disabled category. All the participants were given T-Shirt and Track Pants.

The event was held at Mankapur Indoor Stadium. The band played by Jeevoday School of mentally challenged school children took the lead, followed by all the participants. Surendra Sharma of Baidyanath group was the chief guest. Cricket Match of visually Impaired had a very exciting finish. Various other sports activities were planned for these children and very enthusiastically they took part in all. Shields and Medals were awarded to all the winners. There were some Germans, who were part of Rotary Friendship Exchange, spent the entire day with these children. President Parag Paranjpe, Secretary Namita Sharma and Entire team of Udaan worked hard to make it a huge Success.
 
‘UDAAN’ is one of flagship project of Rotary Club of Nagpur and is sponsored by one of the Leading Hospitals of Nagpur- Lata Mangeshkar Hospital supported by Hotel Centre Point and others. All kind of medical facilities, along with ambulence was there for precaution basis. UDAAN is a mammoth project with participation of close to 1000 people, which includes 750 specially abled children’s accompanied by 150 Teachers and Technical Support Staff, with around 120 Rotarians and 100 Rotractors who serves as volunteers in this noble activity.
