VAN Vihar National Park will receive two tigers from Bandhavgarh this week. As both tigers are man-eaters, they will be kept in an enclosure. The park officials said that exact date of translocation is yet to be decided but it will be done this week. The two tigers are currently enclosed at Bandhavgarh after being rescued from nearby villages. Both the tigers strayed out in residential areas and now they are habitual of attacking humans. The two tigers have been declared as man-eaters due to which Bandhavgarh is shifting them to Van Vihar enclosure. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) is releasing six to seven tigers rescued from several places. Apart from VanVihar, two tigers will be shifted to Satpura Tiger Reserve and released in the wild. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve has already released a tiger into the wild. Four tigers are enclosed in separate cages of the Reserve.

Deputy Director of Bandhavgarh Siddharth Gupta said process to set four tigers free from enclosure has been started. He said management is making efforts to release them this week as they have completed the tenure of enclosure. He further informed that last month a pair of tigers was sent to Satpura Tiger Reserve. The third tiger that is selected to send again at Satpura belongs to the same family due to which officials said to send him with the family. Officials said earlier it was planned to send the pair of tigers to Nauradehi but suddenly the plan was changed.

Tiger that was selected for Nauradehi has been sent to Satpura. He said, currently there is no plan to send any big cat to Nauradehi. Two tigers who have been selected for Van Vihar are living in a cage from an early age. Mother tigress of the cubs died in a fight with a male tiger. Since then, cubs are living in cage so they could not learn hunting skills. Therefore, the officials have decided to send them to Van Vihar for display enclosure.
