ABVP condemns violence at
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly condemned the recent violence at MATS University recently and urged the local administration for stern action against those involved in the same.

Recalling the incident, one of the active members of ABVP, Vikas Mittal, said that a student, claimed to be the nephew of a Mayor, attacked another student with sharp-edged weapon at MATS University. The accused publicly announced that he is the nephew of Mayor and nobody can dare to harm him. The video of this incident also went viral on social media, said Mittal.

The action of local administration and the police towards the University case has also been dubious which is being strongly condemned by the ABVP. The ABVP demanded the administration and police to take immediate action against students who committed crime in the university and rusticate them from the college. The ABVP was of the view that the incident in the university has dented the image of peace loving Chhattisgarh.

When asked about the progress made by police in the case, Additional Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur said that both parties submitted undertakings that they would settle the matter outside. The ASP however refuted that there was any political pressure on them not to file a complaint against the attackers.

However neither Vice Chancellor of the University nor Registrar answered to the repeated calls made by this newspaper. Meanwhile, ABVP members on Monday submitted a memorandum to Additional Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur registering their protest against permission to anti-CAA rally at Jaisthamb Chowk in Raipur. The rally was to be addressed by CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat on Monday late evening. According to ABVP, Brinda disrespected the martyrs of the nation. The ABVP members also expressed concern over hate speech being made by the people of certain community and demanded action against such divisive forces. The Additional SP assured the ABVP members that the matter will be taken up with senior authorities and district collector.
