Congress to fight battle
AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik said that Congress does not accept Apex Court verdict given in connection with Uttarakhand Government’s petition in which BJP-led Uttarakhand Government said that SC/ST reservation in Government jobs is not a fundamental right and there is no Constitutional duty on the Governments to give reservation.

Addressing the press conference in the wake of Apex Court accepting the plea of Uttarakhanad Government, Mukul Wasnik said that Congress will fight battle for SC/ST reservation inside and outside the Parliament and will raise voice at all platforms which Constitution has given.

Wasnik told that in the light of Uttarakhand government contention regarding SC/ST reservation, the face of BJP got exposed. Congress party is determinately opposed to vitriolic attack on the Constitution. He alleged that BJP and Sangh have been against tribals as they construe them as forest dwellers, not accept them as tribes living since ages. He alleged that a sinister conspiracy has been hatched by BJP, Modi government and Uttarakhand government to attack the constitution and abrogate the right of reservation in government jobs for SC/ST and OBCs. He said that Supreme Court verdict of February 7 on SC/ST reservation is unfortunate and Congress will fight inside and outside Parliament over the issue. He accused Modi government of deliberately doing away reservation by misleading the Parliament. He also charged Modi government of abolishing SC/ST Sub Plan. He added that atrocities against dalits have increased in Modi government rule. The BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh has the maximum cases of dalit atrocities. He claimed that Congress does not construe SC/ST as its vote bank.
