Mayor-in-Council (MiC) of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has recommended increasing the number of zones of the corporation from 8 to 10 zones. The decision was taken in the first meeting of MiC held under the chairmanship of Mayor Aijaz Dhebar at the RMC office on Wednesday. RMC Commissioner Saurabh Kumar, MIC members Gyanesh Sharma, Ritesh Tripathy, Kumar Menon, Anjani Radheshyam Vibhar, Satnam Singh Panag, Nagbhushan Rao Yadav, Ajit Kukreja, Samir Akhtar, Sahdev Vyavhar, Draupati Hemant Patel, Sundar Lal Rukhmani Jogi, Jitendra Agrawal, Suresh Channavar, Akash Tiwari, Additional Commissioners Lokeshwar Sahu, Pulak Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner S P Sahu and other officers attended the meeting. Welcoming the MIC members in the first meeting, Mayor Dhebar said that all efforts would be made to develop Raipur as the cleanest city in the country. Recovery of revenue will be ensured cent per cent in the RMC, he added. The General Administration and Legislative Affairs Department of the RMC has proposed constitution of two additional zones in the RMC. The proposal was unanimously passed in the meeting. At present, the RMC is divided into 8 zones.
 
According to 2011 census, the population in Raipur City is 10,48,120. Raipur Commissioner Saurabh Kumar said that now after the proposal was passed from MIC it will be tabled in the general body meeting of the RMC after which it will be sent to the State government for its approval to constitute two new zones. Besides, the MIC has sanctioned amounts for medical compensation cases. The MIC has also approved a proposal for inviting tender for supply of water in summer through tankers.
 
The new pension cases of the Social Welfare Department of the Corporation have also been approved in meeting. The MIC has also passed a proposal for inviting a tender for recruitment of 43 computer operators and 2 stenographers through private placement agency. Financial administrative approval has been given for Rs 90,56,888 on expenditure of 43 computer operators and 2 stenographers. The MIC also passed a proposal to terminate Anganwadi worker Chhaya Goswami, who is posted at Rajiv Gandhi Ward (22) after she has been found absent since a long time.
