Drug peddler held with 8.3 kg ganja

POLICE arrested a peddler with ganja weighing 8.3 kgs from near Bhawartal garden under Omti police station. A joint team of Omti police and Crime Branch on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday arrested the 40-year-old drug peddler, a resident from village Badokher of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.
Following directives of SP Jabalpur Amit Singh to tighten noose around miscreants involved in sale and supply of sedatives in the city.
Informers were pressed into service. Late on Thursday night, an informer informed about a man who alighted a Raipur bound bus and was standing near Bhawartal Garden.
It was informed that the man was in possession with trolley bag suspected to be carrying sedatives and was looking for customers to sell out the consignment.
Acting on the information, a joint team of Omti police and Crime Branch was constituted who reached the said location and found the man. Cops found a trolley bag along with the man who on seeing police tried to flee but was nabbed. After search, cops found nine plastic wrapped packets inside the bag. When examined cops confirmed it as ganja.
The man was identified as Sattyam Balram Singh (40), a resident from village Badokher of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. The peddler was brought to the police station, a case under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered against the peddler. He is being interrogated further to reveal source of procurement and his connection with the drug mafia.
The joint team was headed by SHO Omti SPS Bhaghel comprised of ASI Naresh Singh Jatav, Amar Teerath, Veerendra Mitheelesh, Rajendra, Rustam and from crime branch were Balram, Atul, Nitin, Amit, Mahesh Shailendra and others.
