In a tragic incident, three dozen persons, including 28 women, were injured when a speeding pick-up vehicle was overturned near Kamtiya Ghati under the jurisdiction of Chargavan police station, on Monday. The incident took place when a pick-up vehicle bearing registration number MP-20GA-2905 was ferrying more than 40 labourers from Niti village towards Nunpur village for agriculture work.
 
The speeding vehicle driving carelessly by the driver was passing through Kamtiya Ghati when it was overturned while crossing a tractor coming from opposite side. In the mishap, around 36 labourers travelling on the pick-up vehicle were injured. Witnessing the accident, a large number of villagers were gathered on the spot and started rescuing the injured from overturned vehicle. SHO of Chargavan police station, Sub Inspector, L S Jharia informed that they received information of an accident at Kamtiya Ghati and a police team rushed the spot.
 
Police team rescued the injured with the help of villagers and rushed them at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital. One of the injured named Manishankar informed that they were on the way towards Nunpur village for plucking green peas. They advised the driver for checking the speed of vehicle but he did not heard the same and overturned the pick-up vehicle.
 
The injured have been identified as Naresh, Ravi, Ajay, Ramsingh, Chhunalal, Harishankar, Devendra, Manishankar, Guddo Bai, Sampat Bai, Rajjo Bai, Munni Bai, Malti Bai, Mango Bai, Chouta Bai, Saroj Bai, Parvati Bai, Shyama Bai, Sonam Bai, Buddha Bai, Aarti Bai, Munni Bai, Parvati Bai Vishwakarma, Savita Bai, Punno Bai, Saudar Bai, Vismati Bai, Imarti Bai, Meena Bai, Leela Bai, Bhagwati Bai, Radha Bai, Geeta Bai, Batto Bai, Pushpa Bai and Chhoti Bai, residents of Niti village and its adjoining villages. Chargavan police have registered a case under Section 279 and 337 of the IPC and started a search to identify and apprehend the accused pick-up vehicle driver.
