In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old boy met his untimely death after being hit by a speeding car at Ukhri Square under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Raunak Yadav (14), son of Santosh Yadav, a resident of JDA Block in Ukhri. SHO of Kotwali police station, R K Malviya informed that police received information from a private hospital that a boy was admitted for treatment of his critical injuries in a road accident.
 
Receiving the information, a police team reached at hospital and found that the injured named Raunak Yadav (14), son of Santosh Yadav succumbed to his grave injuries undergoing treatment at the hospital. In prima facie of the investigations, police learnt that 14-year-old boy was returning after dropping his maternal niece at school. He was passing through Ukhri Square when a speeding car bearing registration number UP-65AV-1548 driving carelessly by the driver hit him.
 
In the mishap, Raunak Yadav sustained critical injuries and fell down on the road and the accused car driver managed to drove away from the spot. According to some onlookers, the car was driving by a woman. Police sent the body for post-mortem after conducting Panchnama at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital. Kotwali police have registered a case under Section 304(A) of the IPC and started investigation to identify and apprehend the accused car driver.
