Soon the state capital will see strict compliance in rule of not crossing ‘Stop Line’ at traffic signal as a senior cop here with limited resources has devised unique device ‘Smart Stopping System’ for inculcating traffic sense among people. Setting an example of ‘Smart Police’, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Satish Thakur along with his engineer friend has developed a device ‘Smart Stopping System’ (S3) that will ensure motorists do not cross ‘Stop Line’ when the signal turns Red.

“I along with my engineer friend Shrinivas, who works at a private engineering college, have devised S3 that will make people not to cross ‘Stop Line’ at traffic signals when it turns red. With limited resources, S3 was developed and soon its demonstration will be carried out at SRP Chowk in Raipur. As per the availability of resources, the device will be installed at squares in the state capital,” DSP Satish Thakur told The Hitavada.Giving details about the devise, DSP Traffic said S3 is comprised of transmitter pole, receiver pole, diode, module circuit, speaker for transmitting automated voice message, laser lights, battery amongst other things.

Before ‘Stop Line’, transmitter pole and receiver pole will be installed on both the side of a road. The battery-operated Smart Stopping System will be connected through the traffic signal and turn active when the signal gets red. Laser light from transmitter pole will be accepted by the receiver pole and when the laser’s light will be obstructed by any vehicle/person from reaching to the receiver pole before Stop Line, the recorded voice message asking people not to cross the line will play.

“The idea of Smart Stopping System surprisingly came to my mind when I was using a torch at the time of blackout and I, discussed the entire thought with my engineer friend. After an extensive research, stuffs from the markets of Delhi, Raipur and Bhilai were procured. Poles for Smart Stopping System were manufactured at local fabricator here and the devise was successfully developed,” said DSP Thakur.
