SHIVOM Vidyapeeth organised a programme related to ‘Road Safety Drive’ at its Raipura-based campus here on Tuesday. Head Constable Traffic T K Lal Bhoi was especially present to apprise students on traffic rules. The programme commenced welcoming of Director of the school Pranav Sharma and Principal Manisha Sharma with the presentation of sacred Basil (Tulsi) saplings. Head boy and head girl also welcomed Head Constable T K Lal Bhoi with bouquet.
 
Later, different programmes like street play, speeches, group songs and slogans focusing on how to follow traffic rules were showcased by the students. Besides inspiring to seriously follow the traffic rules, the student’s initiative also emphasized on avoiding using mobile phones during driving and drunken driving as major nuisance, which has been the outcome of many road accidents. Paridhi Sharma, Chanchal Verma and Jayprakash Tripathi secured first, second and third position respectively among the students for their speech on following traffic rules were felicitated with certificates.
 
Head Constable T K Lal Bhoi said that it should be the foremost priority to wear helmets while driving two-wheelers. Around 1.50 lakh people dies of road accidents and 5 lakh people get injured in the country each year. This has resulted in financial loss to the country, he added. The programme concluded with pledge being administered to teachers and students to follow traffics rules while driving. Principal Manisha Sharma thanked the Traffic Police team for spprising students on traffic rules and risks its violation.
