Three arrested in liquor shop burglary case

Mana Camp Police on Friday arrested three men in the foreign liquor shop burglary case at Dumartarai on the intervening night of February 1 and 2, 2020. Burglars had stolen about Rs 27.70 lakh after breaking into the shop.
In a press conference on Friday, Mana Police told the media that complainant Jaiprakash Mahant, a resident of Sector 29 in Atal Nagar, reported that some unidentified thieves had broken into the foreign liquor, where he works as a supervisor, and stole big sums of cash from the locker. There were two guards outside the shop.
On February 3, when reopened the liquor shop in the morning, guards had already left after completing their duty, but when he went backside of the shop he saw a big gap in the door. He immediately reported to his superior officer Sanjeev Das. As they entered the shop with Excise Department officials, locker and hard disk of the CCTV Camera system were pilfered. Total Rs 27.70 lakh cash was stolen. On their complaint, Mana Police registered a case under Section 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code.
Considering the seriousness of the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Shaikh Arif Husen constituted special team to probe
the case.
An elaborate investigation was launched as police looked into every minute details and recorded statements of the current and former employees of the shop.
During the course of investigation, police learned about a notorious criminal Sachin Netam, a resident of Uparwara Atal Nagar, had huge amount of cash with him. Police rounded him up and put through interrogation, in which he confessed of the crime. He also named his brother Lakhan Netam and friend Umesh Netam as his partners in crime. Police recovered Rs 12.75 lakh stolen cash and gold/silver ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh from them.
