Edibles samples fail adulteration test

Seven samples taken by the Mobile Food Testing Laboratory of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) failed the tests and were found adulterated.
Nearly 19 samples of various edibles were taken by the Mobi-Lab from the Haat Bazar in Nayapura Banjari and Lalita Nagar areas in Kolar on Friday.
Five samples of spices including turmeric were found adulterated with dust, a sample of pea and of aniseed was found
adulterated with added colour.
Three nearby residents also reached the laboratory to get their food samples tested by the FDA officials.Chief Food Safety Officer, D K Verma told ‘The Hitavada’ that a few samples taken on Friday were found adulterated and action will be taken against the people concerned. He added that the lab will
continue to ply on the city roads for two more weeks to spread awareness amongst the people about food adulteration, under ‘Shuddh Ke Liye Yudhh’ campaign of state government.
