Congress MLAs squad meeting was held at CM House on Tuesday evening. Chief Minister Kamal Nath presided over the meeting. He discussed current political situation with party MLAs and also about the attempts being made by BJP to wrest from Congress.

This meeting was held a day before Apex Court hearing of BJP’s plea challenging Assembly Speaker’s decision to adjourn Assembly till March 26 and evading the floor test. Sources said that CM asked Congress MLAs to remain present in full strength if the need arises of floor test. Notably, after 22 MLAs being allegedly whisked to Bengaluru by BJP, strength of Congress MLAs got reduced to 92.

Government still enjoys support of four independent MLAs, two BSP MLAs and one SP MLA respectively. Its total strength goes till 99 MLAs. Congress is claiming that some of the MLAs who are in Bengaluru are in its touch apart from some BJP MLAs. In the meantime, after alleged resignation of 22 Congress MLAs, BJP is desperate to snatch power by telling that Congress government has run into minority and lacks majority. During Congress MLA squad meeting, birthdays of Minister Surendra Honey Singh Baghel and MLA Nilanshu Chaturvedi was celebrated by cutting the cake. Home Minister Bala Bachchan, Ministers Dr Govind Singh, Brijendra Singh Rathore, Ajay Singh, ex-MLA and acting State Congress President Ramniwas Rawat were present.
