Met Centre warns of rainfall from today

EVEN though mercury has crossed 33 degree Celsius after brief spell of rainfall, the influence of showers still persists with temperature hovering below normal across the state. If Meteorological Centre’s fresh warning of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and showers at isolated places from March 18 to 21 takes place, the temperature will again dip further. With Coronavirus scare looming large and repeated warning of avoiding huge gathering, rising temperature which was being termed by many as one of the factors in checking the spread of deadly virus, will again gain ground.
 
The impact of sunrays increased maximum temperature with Jagdalpur leading the data table across the state recording maximum of 35.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Bhilai was close second with 34.0 degrees followed by Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur recording 33.8, 33.3 and 31.6 degrees respectively. Similarly, lowest minimum temperature of 14.2 degrees was recorded at Pendra while Bhilai led the minimum table with highest of 22.5 degrees. In its four-day statewide warning starting from March 18, Meteorological Centre, Raipur has warned of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, hail and gusty winds very likely at isolated places. According to the Met Centre, a trough runs from North Tamilnadu to East Vidarbha across Rayalseema and Telangana on Tuesday.
 
The cyclonic circulation that persisted over South Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood on Monday has also merged with the existing trough. However a fresh cyclonic circulation lies over North Coastal Odisha. Under the influence of these two systems along with the western disturbances, medium rainfall or thundershowers is expected at isolated in the state on March 18. The sky will be partly cloudy with possibility of slight rainfall along with thunderstorm in the evening or night hours in Raipur on Wednesday.
 
According to the four-day warnings by Met Center, thunder storm accompanied with lightning is very likely at isolated places over the state on March 18. Similarly, thunderstorm along with lightning, hail and gusty winds reaching the speed of 30-40 KMPH will occur at isolated places from March 19 to 21. Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department in its 4-day rainfall forecast for Chhattisgarh stated of scattered rainfall or at few places from march 18 to 21.
