In his address to the people of the state, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday assured the people that the State Government is completely alert and geared up to combat the virus. He called upon people not to panic but urged them to remain vigilant and any kind of negligence should be avoided. In his message to the people of the state, the Chief Minister said that it is evident that the whole world is fighting against the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
One positive Coronavirus (COVID-19) case has been detected in the capital and the patient is presently under isolation and under treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur. All members of patient’s family and others who might have come under the patient’s contact has also been identified and kept in isolation. The Chief Minister has stated that the state has appropriate medical mechanisms in the state and there is nothing to fear but we have to be more vigilant as there is no place for negligence. He said the positive patient is undergoing treatment at AIIMS and is under the supervision of specialist doctors. In many parts of the country, such patients have been cured and sent to home. He said the process of medical examination of all persons returning from abroad and keeping them under isolation is being carried out.
 
The Chief Minister reiterated the people having information regarding persons who have returned from abroad and have not reported to the health department, then such cases should be reported immediately to Toll Free No – 104. The Chief Minister said people should understand that if they hide their ailment it would neither prevent them from getting infected and if timely information is given then the patient might be saved through proper treatment. Also it would minimise spreading of Coronavirus infection. Children and aged persons should take more precautions. The Chief Minister urged the people not to get out of their houses and only do so when it is utmost necessary.
 
He said for the safety and concern of people he had cancelled all his programmes. Ban has been imposed on collection of people in schools, colleges, malls, cinema halls and other crowded areas. He said he’s repeatedly assuring people that there is nothing to fear as the state government and its complete mechanisms are on alert mode and have made all necessary preparations for control and prevention of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.
 
The Chief Minister further stated that for giving exact and true information about Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection status in the state, a dedicated Emergency Communication Team has been constituted, which will decipher true information and check spreading of rumours and misleading information. The Chief Minister while encouraging the morale of health department personnel said he observes deep gratitude towards the doctors and medical teams engaged in Coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment and the whole state is hailing their sacrifice.
 
He said his government has decided to provide additional Special Allowance to all doctors and medical personnel engaged in Coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment process. The Chief Minister stated that the State Government while taking a major decision has imposed Section 144 in the Capital covering all areas coming under Raipur Municipal Corporation, so that large gatherings of people can be avoided with an intention to check the spreading of Coronavirus (COVID-19). He said he has complete belief that the people of Chhattisgarh will be cooperating completely with the state government in this hour of crisis so that an effective check can be put on the spreading of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
