Raipur police take out flag march ahead of shutdown

Raipur Police took out a flag march for 48 hours to quell unrest and anxiety among people due to Janata curfew called on Sunday. On Friday night, Raipur Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaikh Arif Husen, held a flag march in city. “With the objective to create awareness about COVID-19, Raipur Police - accompanied by officials of district administration - held a flag march. The flag march commenced from Police Control Room (PCR) and culminated at the point of origin,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur.
 
The ASP informed that after covering Telibandha, Civil Lines, Rajendra Nagar, Tikrapara, Purani Basti, D D Nagar, Azad Chowk, Kotwali, Moudhapara, Ganj and other police stations, the march concluded at PCR. As many as 10 police vehicles participated in the march.
 
“During the flag march, the cops appealed to the public to avoid stepping out and avoid meeting people in groups. Besides, police personnel ensured shutting down of shops which were unnecessarily opened,” said ASP Thakur. Police personnel also made announcement about do and don’t for their personal safety. Similarly, flag march at zonal-level was held by police officials in areas under their jurisdiction, added ASP Thakur.
