Tearful adieu was bid to seventeen DRG and STF personnel of Chhattisgarh police who were martyred in a Maoist attack on Sunday at Korajguda hilly terrain under insurgency-hit Sukma district, at the Sukma police lines. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Home Minister Tamradhawaj Sahu along with Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, CPCC President Mohan Markam, Senior Security Advisor to Union Home Ministry K Vijay Kumar, DGP D M Awasthi along with senior officials from state administration, police and CRPF were present during the tribute ceremony and bid tearful adieu to the brave martyrs.
 
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in his condolence message, said that he is proud of the brave security personnel who laid down their lives for the motherland while fighting with Maoists. Asserting that their sacrifice will not go in vain, the Chief Minister said the State Government would give a befitting reply with its full might. He said the state government is standing strongly with the family members of these martyrs. Later talking to media persons on reaching Raipur, the Chief Minister said action will be taken with complete preparedness. He said a major loss has taken place due to one mistake but our brave security personnel had fought the battle strongly.
 
He said the Maoists have also suffered huge casualties and complete details will be shared on their loss later on. It may be recalled that a fierce battle had taken place between 450 DRG and STF of state police, CRPF CoBRA personnel and Maoists at the Korajguda hilly terrain under insurgency-hit Sukma district on Saturday-Sunday, where 17 security personnel were martyred while 15 others were injured, some of them seriously and are undergoing treatment in the capital. It is reported that following the incident Maoists looted 15 weapons including 12 AK-47 rifles. Nearly 250 Naxals from Company Number-1 Hidma were involved in encounter.
