Raipur Police take tough stance for lockdown

Raipur Police claimed to have made blanket arrangements for enforcing complete lockdown called to contain spread of deadly Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). If required, Raipur Police will seal entry and exit point of State Capital for preventing unnecessary movement of vehicles from other states and neighbouring districts as a preventive measure, said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure lockdown in proper sense, added the ASP City.
 
All the police officials here have been directed to make sure people should not unnecessarily came out of their house and prevent unlawful gathering, said ASP Thakur, elaborating that to contain the deadly COVID-19, all the directives of government are being complied strictly. It shocking that people are not taking the pandemic seriously, therefore, police will start detaining vehicles of those found wandering without any plausible reason for next couple of days, said police sources. Raipur Police at certain locations in State Capital on Tuesday resorted to mild force against people unnecessarily stepped outside. Prominent squares in Raipur saw adequate deployment of police personnel, including traffic cops.
 
All the prominent thoroughfares within the city have been barricaded to prevent vehicular movement. Moreover, several police teams have been formed to make sure general store, grocery shop, vegetable market and petrol pumps should follow the directives issued by the administration it terms of timing. In a welcome gesture, ASP Prafull Thakur on Tuesday distributed hand sanitiser to police personnel engaged in the city.
