Cabinet decides to introduce One Time Settlement Scheme to dispose of pending vehicle tax in C’garh
 
 
Addressing one of the long-pending demands, Cabinet on Tuesday gave a go-ahead to a Sub Committee of Council of Ministers to regulate fee structure of private schools across the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel chaired the Cabinet meeting through video conferencing amid threat of coronavirus which has become a global pandemic. State Health Minister T S Singhdeo joined the meeting through videoconferencing from Mumbai while the remaining ministers joined from their respective offices. Similarly, the Cabinet approved the bill seeking establishment of a private university in the form of Shri Shankaracharya Professional University in the state apart from giving its nod to drafts of Chhattisgarh University (Amendment) Bill 2020, Indira Kala and Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (Amendment) Bill 2020, Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication (Amendment) Bill 2020, Pt Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University Chhattisgarh (Amendment) Bill 2020 and Chhattisgarh Private University (Establishment and Operation) (Amendment) Bill-2020.
 
The Cabinet also approved merger of Ayacut Department with Water Resources Department, opportunity to new institutions to run fair price shops, open tender for the distribution of grams. In another major decision, the Cabinet decided to go for One Time Settlement Scheme 2020 to dispose of vehicle tax pending before and after the formation of Chhattisgarh. It was decided in the cabinet that the punishment and interest amount against taxes pending up to March 31, 2013 would not be collected from the vehicle owners under the Scheme. Similarly, punishment amount against taxes pending from April 1, 2013 to December 31, 2018 would not be imposed on vehicle owners under the scheme.
 
The Cabinet gave in-principle approval to start Ethanol Plant under PPP Mode at cooperative sugar factories Kawardha, Pandaria, Balod and Ambikapur. To boost investment in the state, the Cabinet approved a draft of New Tourism Policy 2020. The aim of this policy is to transform tourism into an industry.
