Total six positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Chhattisgarh and seven patients are kept under observation at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur here on Thursday. As per information received from Dr Karan Peepre, Superintendent of AIIMS hospital, four patients found positive are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Raipur while two other patients are in Rajnandgaon and Bilaspur districts of State. Out of four positive patients undergoing treatment in AIIMS, three are from Raipur and one from Bhilai. Two new patients from Raipur include a 60-year-old male patient from Ramnagar area near Raipur Railway Station and another patient is reportedly 27-year-old woman. The third patient is 33-year-old man from Bhilai, Khursipar area.
 
All the four have been kept in isolation and they are undergoing treatment for coronavirus. Apart from this, seven patients are also under observation as the reports have not shown positive signs while their symptoms are very similar to positive patients. All the patients are undergoing treatment at AYUSH building of AIIMS, Raipur. Professor Dr Nitin M Nagarkar, Director of AIIMS, Raipur informed that all the four positive patients undergoing treatment are stable and under observation. AIIMS is providing medical care as per Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines. All patients have been given counselling to boost their morale. Due to increased number of patients, AIIMS has also decided to increase its capacity from 24 beds to 166 beds for coronavirus infected patients.
 
All required medicines, kits for staff and nursing staff have been procured accordingly and are in complete preparedness. He has requested all citizens to follow lock down in letter and spirit. Adopt every precaution to avoid coronavirus infection. AIIMS has provided logistics including food to the family members staying at Hospital Campus. Dr Peepre further informed that AIIMS has made adequate arrangements for the isolation and treatment of patients. However the condition of first positive detected patient is under control and improving.
 
So far three COVID-19 tests were performed on her, which failed due to presence of positive symptoms. The forth test is expected to be performed by doctors soon, if the report comes to be negative for two consecutive times the patient would be considered free from Coronavirus and will be allowed to leave hospital and would be asked to remain in house isolation for some weeks. It may be mentioned that first case was detected on March 18, 2020 after which district administration swung into action and precautionary measures were taken to control the outbreak of coronavirus.
