President, V-P extend support to Governors in fighting COVID-19

Keeping in view the COVID-19 contagion, President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday convened a meeting of all the state Governors via video conference. Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu and Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey along with the Governors of all the states were present at the meeting.
The Governors of the states with highest numbers of COVID-19 patients and deaths held detailed discussed with the President, who suggested them to maintain round the clock monitoring of situation and contact the Union Health Minister regarding any need of testing kits or other medical equipments or any sorts of advise. Maintain regular contact with the Chief Ministers over phone so as the information could flow smoothly. President Kovind said that he and the Vice-President are available all the time, so they can contact to discussion any situation.
President asked to activate the Red Cross Society so as to take help in the prevention drive against COVID-19 through their volunteers, who can also assist in providing medical facilities, food packets manufacturing and distribution to the poor people. It would be appropriate to hold dialogue with senior officials of the states.a
The vice-chancellors of the universities shall also help in raising awareness. While doing these things, the rule of social distancing must be strictly followed. He also suggested starting online course for the students. During the video conferencing, many suggestions and measures, which are already taken, were brought to fore. According to the suggestions, a list of retired Doctors and final year medical students should be maintained and take service from whoever of them want to serve.
Daily wagers and poor labourers, who are not registered in any scheme, arrangements of food and money for them should be made. Suggestions to lodge such people in Raenbasera,Dharamshala and Government housing facilities. People are not taking the lockdown seriously, so they should made aware through social media. Lockdown should also be enforced in rural areas. An appeal to all the religious leaders should be made so as they direct their devotees to celebrate religious festivals and perform rituals within their homes.
