Rashida Bi of Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationery Karmchari Sangh, said that they got special permission from police to screen gas survivors and also provide them with health check-up facilities to ensure corona prevention.
 
The health squad started working going home to home from March 24. The gas research organisations claimed that gas survivors are more prone towards such diseases and accordingly special acre needs to be taken to ensure that they take all safety measures. Samrina Bi, who lives in Widow Colony, said that we came to know about COVID-19 disease and now we have suspended all the protest. Notably, a protest was scheduled at Neelam Park last week over suspension of pension to gas survivor widows. After awareness to avoid all kinds of gathering now widows of gas survivors have e decided t suspend all activities. The gas survivors organisations have brought on record the data which shows that gas victims are 5 times more vulnerable to COVID-19 than general population and have sought urgent intervention towards providing essential services of testing and critical care to the gas affected population in view of their heightened vulnerability to the COVID – 19 pandemic.
 
The groups have also suggested critical steps in curbing the spread of the disease and for that now Sambhavana Clinic has started raising awareness in hospitals and in gas affected communities, increasing the facilities for screening and testing and converting one the gas relief hospitals into a fully functional isolation centre with ICU facilities for COVID-19 cases. They have also asked gas survivors to avoid going to gas relief hospitals unnecessary. Sambhavana Trust clinic engaged in treating of gas survivors patients are working to raise awareness among gas survivors over COVID_19 disease. Sambhavana clinic is also asking arrangements for sitting of patients in a way that each of the patient sits at a distance of one meter from each other. They have also started playing audio to inform general patients about the disease and steps to be taken for precautions.
