Docs should keep medical services open: Mundhe
Warning all the private medical practitioners not to keep their services closed, Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe made it clear, if doctors don’t open their clinics for no reason, legal action would be initiated against them. Mundhe in the circular issued by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made it clear, under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897 Commissioner has been declared as the competent authority to monitor the situation. Mundhe pointed out, “It has been noticed that citing the reason of coronavirus outbreak private medical practitioners have closed the hospitals, pathology laboratories, medical stores because of which people are facing several problems. I ask all the medical practitioners not to close them. If they do so, legal action under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 would be taken against such violators.”

Govt also should take care of PPE
Dr Vinky Rughwani, Vice-President of Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) has welcomed the decision and also asked Government to take care of Personal Protection Equipment to be used by doctors. He pointed out, hospitals are facing shortage of masks, sanitizers. Maharashtra Medical Council has recently allowed medical practitioners for telephonic consultations. But it doesn’t mean that private practitioners should keep their OPDs closed. Due to this Covid-19 people are in fear hence they want to visit doctors even for fever, cough cold-like symptoms. Hence MMC has urged all practitioners to obey Government order and keep open their clinics.
