COSIA appreciated the working of State Government particularly its Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who has been successfully able to run the administration taking its allies who have different ideologies together since four months and also keeping a cohesive relation with the Union Government. In this hour of emergency, when the whole world is fighting against pandemic disease COVID-19 the State of Maharasta is the worst affected in the country. But it’s people and Government have shown courage to fight it out bravely. Recent relief package offered by Union Finance Minister and RBI Governor has given a healing touch to the wounds of Indian citizens.

Still the residents of Maharastra need more solace from the State Government as their wounds are more deeper. It should be inline with the relief offered by the State Governments in other parts of the country. Monthly electricity bills for March will be raised in the beginning of next month. COSIA expects relief in terms of differment to this as well as for the month of April and May upto June end. Trade and industry humbly requests to waive off fixed charges, FAC, PF penalty and electricity duty and such other incidental levies from their bills for the month of March, April and May as their business transactions and production has come to a grinding halt.

Waiver of MIDC service charges and differment of monthly water bill and local body tax are other expectations, said Mayank Shukla, Chairman, Vidarbha Chapter of Chamber of Small Industry Associations (COSIA). COSIA’s Vice Chairman CA Julfesh Shah requested the State Government for total waiver of professional tax being levied on employers as well as employees, which is even otherwise uncalled for. If the citizens are safe and healthy they will prove to be an asset to their State and country, said CA Julfesh Shah, who is also Member, Committee on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, ICAI, New Delhi.
