There is bad news for thousands of people who use to line up every day outside police stations across the state capital for getting a 'one-time pass' and many of them are students who wished to travel to their hometowns. Bhopal, like the rest of India, is presently under lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic. The rush was seen on the first day of the 21-day national lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. From now the cops will not issue any pass from the police stations to anyone for leaving Bhopal in their personal vehicles.

The fresh orders for it were issued by the ministry of home affairs on Sunday. No persons shall be allowed to leave Bhopal until there is an emergency. Only the persons with some serious ailments or if they have to attend any last rites will be allowed or if they are in any emergency work. The police have issued numbers for any queries—9301269459, 9301266113, 9301269841 and 7049106300.

Notably, the passes were being issued offline on the basis of Aadhaar cards and request letters. However, the district administration planned to take it online and will issue passes to the applicants on their mobiles and e-mail id on the basis of documents submitted by them. Meanwhile, the RTO office of Bhopal has been also considering giving out transferable passes for people and vehicles.
