The CGBSE Chairman Dr Alok Shukla said that the Board is yet to take a final decision on evaluation

Days after Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) announced to get answer sheets of Class 10 and 12 Main Examinations-2020 evaluated at home of valuers instead of evaluation centres amid the ongoing lockdown, people are expressing their apprehensions regarding the safety and confidentiality of the answer sheets.

The CGBSE had made it clear that it will come up with a foolproof plan as far as confidentiality when a final decision on the evaluation of answer sheets is taken. However, several quarters, including Chhattisgarh Pradesh Shikshak Federation, of the society have termed it as ‘unsafe’ plan of the CGBSE. Some are also claiming that the papers are potential carrier of coronavirus and the valuers might get infected even though they evaluate at their respective homes and therefore the CGBSE should drop the idea of ‘work from home’. When asked about the decision, CGBSE Chairman Dr Alok Shukla said that the board has not yet arrived at any conclusion as far about the evaluation of answer sheets.

“We have not yet finalised whether the answer sheets will be evaluated by the evaluators at their homes or not. The board is closely observing the developments taking place amidst coronavirus threat and any decision can be taken keeping in mind the circumstances prevailing in the surroundings,” said the CGBSE Chairman. As far as confidentiality and transparency is concerned, there is no question of any irregularities in the evaluation as roll numbers of the answer sheets are covered.

Answer sheets are safe whether it is checked at home or evaluation centre, assured Dr Shukla while talking to this newspaper on Monday. “There is no difference between home of evaluators and evaluation centre. Both the place are safe as the valuers cannot see the roll numbers,” asserted Dr Shukla. It is difficult to say the evaluation date, concluded Dr Shukla. CGBSE Main Examinations 2020 (Class X and XII) had begun from March 2. While Class XII Main Examination was scheduled to be held from March 2 to March 31, Class X Main Examination was scheduled to be held from March 3 to March 26. However, examinations could not be completed owing the total lockdown imposed on March 24 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
