Crack down on hoarding of essential goods: Speaker directs administration

Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Nana Patole on Monday directed administration to crackdown on traders who are hoarding essential commodities. A meeting was held at the office of Nagpur Divisional Commissioner in which Guardian Minister Dr. Nitin Raut, Dairy Development Minister Sunil Kedar, State Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar, MLA Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, MLC Dushyant Chaturvedi and senior administrative officials were present in the meeting.
 
“It become difficult for common man to survive in the period of lockdown. The rural economy is dependent on the urban sector of the state. As the demand of vegetables and milk decreased from the urban area, the farmers are facing acute financial crunch. The administration should supply the grains at the household during the lockdown period,” Patole directed and added that shopkeepers, auto-rickshaw drivers, paan kiosk owners should be involved in the distribution system. Along with government doctors, private doctors and hospitals would also be rope in to tackle the epidemic, he stressed.
 
Guardian minister Dr. Nitin Raut directed the administration for work out long term plan to contain graph of coronavirus. He also questioned the officials for not initiating action against hoarding citing newspaper reports. “Many newspapers have reported the news about hoarding of essential commodities in the district. However, not a single case has been registered so far,” he stated. Dr. Raut also directed the administration to make arrangement for migrant labours in the city and keep the Primary Healthcare centres open. Dairy Development minister Sunil Kedar said that many private hospitals were shutdown in the city. These doctors should be directed to open their clinic, he said.
 
On the issue of vegetables coming from the villages, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar asked the administration to make arrangement to sell the vegetables to citizens. Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police Dr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Inspector General of Police Nagpur Range Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, District Collector Ravindra Thakre, Superitendent of Police Rakesh Ola, Additional Divisional Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar, Deputy Director Health Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, Dean of IGMCH Dr. Ajay Kewliya, Dean of GMC&H Sajal Mitra and others were present.
