NMC seals two health centres, hospital for examining COVID-19 patient

The directive from NMC followed after revelation that a person from Jaripatka was admitted and examined at these two units before reports of he being positive patient of coronavirus surfaced 
 
The Health Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has sealed two city health centres and a hospital as one coronavirus positive patient had reportedly examined at these facilities. The two units which civic officials have sealed are Janata Hospital, Jaripatka, and Rainbow Diagnostic Centre, Ramdaspeth. Along with these two, Panorama MRI Centre, Ramdaspeth, too was locked down till further orders. The administration of respective facilities were also directed by civic officials to carry out process of disinfecting of their entire premises. Meanwhile, civic officials also carried out survey at Sunflower Hospital, East High Court Road, and collected 36 samples and sent the same for testing to the Government lab.
 
A patient from Chandrapur with reports of pneumonia was under treatment at the hospital and he had died during the course of treatment. It was suspected that the patient might have been corona positive but the results returned negative. The NMC officials had also taken samples of hospital staff to be examined in case the patient result was found positive. This person had come in contact with his brother who along with his owner, the Khamla trader, had gone to New Delhi, and after returning to city they were detected positive of COVID-19. As the Health Department started tracing the people with whom the two had come in contact, family members of the two were immediately tested. Thereafter they were asked about their visit and with whom they had come into contact. The health establishment of city was shaken after it was learnt that a patient who was treated at a hospital and also examined at a diagnostic centre had tested positive. Now NMC has again asked for details form these establishment about doctors and nursing staff who might have come in contact with the said patient as they would need to be put under quarantine.
 
Already nine staffers of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) who had treated the positive person are under quarantine. Even the patients who were also treated by doctors during the said period are also likely to be screened as a matter of safeguard. NMC release stated that the decision about reopening of two hospitals and the MRI centre would be taken as per guidelines of Central Government.
