6,685 students selected for admission in 6,784 seats in 680 schools of Nagpur 
 
The document verification process for 25 per cent admission under Right To Education (RTE) Act has been cancelled by the State Government due to COVID-19 outbreak in Maharashtra. Education department also advised that parents must avoid manual document verification at Taluka offices during this lockdown. Amid this lockdown imposed by Central Government halted every activity in the country and at this situation implementation of documentation verification is not possible. The lottery round for getting admission took place on March 19 in all over Maharashtra.

Education department received 31,044 online applications for 6,784 seats in 680 schools of Nagpur district. In which, 6,685 students got selected whereas 6,268 applications are on waiting list. Similarly, in Vidarbha there are total 78,818 online application received for 22,742 seats in 2,285 schools. Nagpur topping the list with highest number of schools and admissions in Vidarbha and second in the State after Pune which received 62,918 applications for 16,949 seats in 972 schools.
 
Gadchiroli received the lowest in Vidarbha with 1,008 online applications for 704 seats in 75 schools. Parents can get the status of their application through the website www.student.maharashtra.gov.in. This year, the online application process started in mid February which will likely to conclude till May end. Under the RTE Act, non-minority schools need to reserve 25 per cent of their seats for students with special needs and those from the economically weaker section of the society. The cost of uniforms, books and other school kits are sponsored by the state in the form of reimbursement to the school.
