THE tally of patients tested positive for coronavirus reached nine on Tuesday evening in State. The two new patients are from Korba and Raipur have been admitted in AIIMS, Raipur. The boy who became the eight patient had arrived at Korba from London was tested positive and shifted to AIIMS on Monday late night. The ninth patient is a resident of Raipur and after he was tested psitive for coronavirus he was shifted to AIIMS for isolation and treatment. This patient is considered to be fifth one to return from United Kingdom.
 
The family members of the two patients have been advised for home isolation. After these two were tested positive the entire area has been quarantined and all entry roads have been sealed. A resident of Ramsagarpara, Korba the boy had returned from London on March 18. He was tested for Coronavirus and the sample was sent to lab. The report arrived on the night of March 30. Immediately a team of doctors and administrative officers reached his house and he was sent to AIIMS, Raipur, with all prescribed precautions. His father, mother, sister and grandfather are being kept under home isolation and their samples have been sent to lab for testing.
 
In order to prevent the spread of this virus, the entire area has been barricaded and the entry of commoners has been banned. District administration official reached the spot and instructed for sanitising the entire area thoroughly.
 
Korba District Collector Kiran Kaushal has appealed the people for maintaining calm and not to panic. She said that the administration is completely equipped to handle the situation. All kind of medical and sanitisation arrangements have been ensured in the district. She also appealed the people for abiding by the lockdown. After the Ramsagarpara resident has been tested positive, the area within a radius of 3 kms has been declared as super-sensitive. Team from Health Department had started surveying about 250 houses in the area, collecting information about the health of the residents. The house inmates are being questioned for symptoms such as cough, breathlessness or fever. People showing such symptoms are being sent to district hospital.
 
Teams of Mitanins, aanganbadi workers and other health workers are also working to identify the people who may have come in contact with the patient and such persons would be kept under home isolation as a precautionary measure. SP Abhishek Meena said that a total of 76 people in the district had arrived from foreign countries. Out of these, 75 have been traced so far, while one person could not be contacted so far and the information is that the person is not physically present in the State. 
 
Two corona patients discharged from AIIMS after testing negative

Two patients have been discharged from AIIMS after improvement in their health and after passing two confirmation tests. According to Medical Bulletin issued by AIIMS, Raipur, two patients including 68-year-old and another 33-year-old male were found negative in coronavirus test during the last four days. They were admitted in dedicated coronavirus ward at AIIMS, Raipur recently. After rigorous medication and isolation as per ICMR protocol they responded well to their treatment. VRD Lab in Microbiology Department found their two consecutive tests negative and they were discharged as per the ICMR guidelines.
 
The condition of other four patients admitted in AIIMS is also stable. Director Professor Dr Nitin M Nagarkar said that it is a great achievement for AIIMS family. “Dedication and commitment of the Medical fraternity towards treatment of Coronavirus patients is giving dividend,” he said. AIIMS family has also decided to contribute one day salary towards Prime Minister’s Relief fund for coronavirus patients. All doctors, employees and technical staff have decided to contribute one day salary in PM Relief Fund. It would reflect their commitment to fight against coronavirus. It is noteworthy that almost 60 doctors, nursing staff and technical employees are working 24x7 in AIIMS to provide treatment to coronavirus positive patients.
 
They are working in shifts. After one week of duty roster, they have to undergo self quarantine for 14 days. Till then they will stay in the AIIMS campus. AIIMS has provided logistics for the team including food and rooms at the campus. With this development there are four patients undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Raipur now. The condition of all the four patients are under control and stable, stressed Dr Peepre. Meanwhile, Dr Karan Peepre, Medical Superintendent of AIIMS, informed that State’s eighth COVID-19 patient from Korba had history of foreign travel. He returned from London and his blood samples were tested on March 29. Report of the blood test was positive and was disclosed on March 30 after which at about 11:30 pm the patient was admitted to AIIMS.
