Back from Nizamuddin, 12 people in hospital quarantine in Yavatmal, Chanda, Gondia

After the coronavirus scare got fuelled further by the recent Tablighi Jamat event at Nizamuddin in Delhi, local administrations are now busy tracing people of their districts who had attended the meet. Total 19 such people were found including 13 in Gondia district, 6 in Yavatmal district and one at Rajura in Chandrapur district. Of them, 12 have been placed under hospital quarantine. The man found in Rajura hails from Kagaznagar town in Telangana. He had come to Rajura to attend marriage of his brother in-law. According to official sources, during a door-to-door- survey being conducted by ASHA workers in Rajura, the man was traced through his travel history.
 
The man is aged around 33 years and had arrived at Ballarpur by train on March 18 after attending the congregation at Nizamuddin. He hails from Kagaznagar town in Telgangana, however, he had come to Rajura directly from Delhi. He was stuck in Rajura owing to the lockdown across the country. After receiving information from higher officials, ASHA workers, during the course of their survey, detected him through his travel history. The man was then taken to Government Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday and family members have been asked to stay in home quarantine till his medical reports arrive.
 
Civil Surgeon Dr N C Rathod also confirmed his attendance in Tablighi Jamat meet in Nizamuddin and added that he was not co-operating with the authorities regarding details of his residence and people he had come in contact with. “In all four persons, including this man, another person from Pune and two from Nepal have been put up in isolation ward of GMCH as a precautionary measure. The reports are expected to arrive soon,” Rathod said while talking to The Hitavada.
 
In Yavatmal district too, five persons from Wani and one from Yavatmal have been admitted into Vasantrao Naik GMCH, Yavatmal, after it came to light that they had attended the event in Nizamuddin. These include three from Khadbada area of Wani. There throat swab samples have been sent for testing and reports are awaited. District Collector MD Singh informed that besides these 6 persons, 8 others were also placed under isolation in GMCH on Wednesday due to their travel history. In Gondia, administration has started tracing people who had attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi. As per reliable sources, 13 people from Gondia have been identified and 6 of them have been kept in institutional quarantine while search for others is underway.
