Maharashtra Government decided to implement lockdown throughout State and everything came to standstill. Senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Anil Deshmukh who is handling important portfolio like Home got stuck up in Mumbai. He has his son and daughter-in-law and daughter and son-in-law there with whom he is spending time. “Though the lockdown because of coronavirus compelled me to stay at home and spend time with family, I am all the time busy handling the present situation,” said Anil Deshmukh while talking to ‘The Hitavada’.

Anil Deshmukh has now got time to spend time with family but his wife and elder son Salil stay at Nagpur. Right now he is missing completeness of family because he is in Mumbai with half of the members only. Of course, his younger son Hrishikesh and daughter Dr Pooja Chaturvedy nee Dr Payal otherwise don’t get to spend as much time with him because of his busy schedule. Now they are enjoying his presence. “My son and daughter are not allowing me to go out.

They ask me to stay at home and get quarantined. Of course I cannot do that,” said Deshmukh with smile. After getting the responsibility of Home portfolio, Deshmukh’s frequent visit to Mumbai started. These visits are officially and he used to get busy in meetings. Whatever leisure time he spent was at Nagpur. Now the situation is different. He can have tea or breakfast with his children. “Because of the present condition I have to attend meetings at Mantralaya. Everytime some or other instructions or guidelines issued about coronavirus. As you all know after doctors and paramedicals, police are playing important role. I being Home Minister have to participate in all meetings where major policy decisions are taken. Considering public outburst or situation arose out of coronavirus, we have to keep changing the orders given to police,” said Anil Deshmukh.

“I am receiving number of calls from public seeking help. Some of the people enquire about the clarity of directions, some do call to give suggestions. Some give calls for trivial issues as they need pass to go to a particular destinations. It has become difficult to attend each and every call. I want to make appeal through your newspaper that people should call me to seek genuine help. I cannot involve in issuing passes and other smaller things on individual level. As a minister it is not proper for me to cross the jurisdiction of police. It will be a breach of orders issued by me and also will demoralise police force,” explained Deshmukh.
