The Oil Merchants Association convened a special meeting of its members under the guidance of Rajesh Thakkar, President of the Association. He told the members that the country was passing through a bad phase. People should maintain social distancing, use mask and sanitiser as suggested by the Prime Minister. Thakkar said, edible oil falls into the category of essential items and therefore no oil merchants should indulge in black marketing.
 
The Association has decided prices of the edible oil which is as follows--groundnut oil-- Rs 2,250 (15 kg tin), soyabean oil-Rs 1,600 (15 kg tin) and sunflower oil-- Rs 1,600 (15 kg). Those who will violate the rules of the Association will to pay a fine of Rs 5,000. If anyone is found in indulging into black marketing, the Association will report the matter to the concerned department. The members of the Association may also give written complaints to Satish Ruthia, Vice-President (9960695973), Purushottam Fulwani, Working Member (8459868263).
 
Thakkar said, that officials from Food and Drug Department, Legal Metrology and Police inspected the shops of oil merchants which is a wrong practice looking at the present situation. The officials of the Food and Drug Administration by violating the social distancing norms entered into the shop of oil merchants for inspection which is very wrong. In the meeting Vinod Choudhary and Pankaj Ghadge from Crime Branch and senior officials from FDA and Metrology were prominently present on the occasion.
