Government to purchase milk in Minimum Support Price

As the period of lockdown is creating several problems which Government has to tackle, issue of prices of milk is another menace being witnessed by everybody. Some private and cooperative agencies are purchasing the milk below the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Taking serious cognisance of the private agencies, Maharashtra’s Dairy Development Minister Sunil Kedar warned agencies buying milk in less than MSP of dire consequences. Because of panic of coronavirus most of the people have stopped purchasing milk. In many localities, milkmen are prohibited to enter. Because of this situation, demand of milk has reduced drastically.

This has brought farmers and milk producers in trouble. Taking undue advantage of this situation, some private and cooperative agencies are trying to purchase milk from the farmers below MSP. After noticing the move by private and cooperative agencies, Kedar came out and sent a message in a tersely words. He said, “If this situation continues and people won’t stop insisting on reducing prices while purchasing milk from the farmers, it will become difficult for them. Government will take care of farmers and see to it that no milk producers will have a single drop of milk remained excess with him or her.

Government will buy the milk of the farmers that remained with District Milk Producers Federation.” Private, government and cooperative agencies cannot purchase milk in less than MSP. Government would extend the helping hand to farmers. One can increase one’s immunity against the coronavirus if they consume milk as it has lot of proteins, pointed out Kedar. Government will monitor that the raw material like dye, stabiliser, preservatives, flavour, fat, packing material required in milk processing centres would not be disturbed. Kedar has appealed everybody to purchase milk at the cost fixed by Milk Producers Association. The milk remained with District Milk Producers Federation would be purchased by Government and the supply can be planned through Mahananda, added Kedar.

If people has any problem with regards to milk or related products they should contact Commissioner Poyam on 9881944159. Meanwhile Kedar has also made his views on consuming eggs, chicken clear. He said, “Corona has no connection with milk, eggs, chicken. In fact it is good for health and strengthens human immune system. If anybody has any doubt about milk, eggs then they should contact Commissioner of Animal Husbandry Sachindra Pratap Singh on 9422885511 or Additional Commissioner Farkale on 9423207070. Kedar said, “We need to fight with corona and for that our immunity power should be strong. Milk has the components that increase our immunity. Milk, pulses, eggs, chicken have proteins that helps us to develop power. These things should not be banned.”
