SQAY player Gouri Gokhale, who started learning the Indian martial arts at the age of seven, has been doing exceptionally well in the sport and has won more than 25 medals at national and international levels. Daughter of Rajeshwari and Rajas Gokhale, Gouri first showed interest in sports when she was just five. Noticing her skills in the same, her mother encouraged her to join martial arts at school.
 
When she was seven, Gouri joined classes for sqay, an Indian martial arts form that incorporate kicks, punches, locks and chops. Year after year, Gouri continued with her excellent performances winning a lot of medals in Under-14 and Under-17 age groups making parents, school and the city proud. Gouri won medals in nationals held Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Nagpur, Goa and Nashik etc. She also represented India at Thailand, Nepal and South Korea under the able guidance of coaches Mazhar Khan, Sheikh Javed, Sayyed Imtiaz. A student of Sandipani School, Hazari Pahad, Gouri dreams of representing India when the sport in included in Olympics.
