Nagpur, on Thursday, registered no new novel coronavirus positive case. This was the third day in a row when no new such case is registered in city. Apart from citizens, who are following social distancing, the credit for the containment also goes to staff at hospitals and police. Nagpur police have succeeded in restricting movement of citizens on road resulting in no further spread of the virus.

When the resident from Khamla tested positive, he became the first such case where no history of traveling abroad was involved. After him testing positive for COVID-19, one or two positive cases kept surfacing. Similar was the case of a person residing in Empress City, who also tested positive. Both had travelled by train, posing threat to many. It was speculated that coronavirus was taking city in its grip as new cases might be the beginning of community spread. Fortunately, those assumptions proved false as after initial positive outbreak, Sun on Tuesday rose with a ray of hope for the Nagpurians. Thursday was the third consecutive day when not a single positive case was registered.

There are nine positive persons undergoing treatment at IGGMCH. Two of them are suffering from pneumonia and one is diabetic, all are fit cases for coronavirus. Similarly, three patients being treated at GMCH are also doing well. One is suffering from paralysis but he also is doing fine. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari convened a meeting of all the office bearers of Bharatiya Janata Party.

He asked them to convey the message to all corporators to get their areas fumigated to protect the citizens from getting affected by coronavirus. The fumigation, a precautionary measure to prevent viral attack is being done all over the Nagpur. At GMCH and IGGMCH, the staff is treating coronavirus suspected and positive persons, due to which both hospitals are taking utmost care to contain its spread among healthcare workers. Under the guidance of Dr Sajal Mitra, Dean, team of Medical Superintendent Dr Avinash Gawande and others at GMCH is doing whatever needed in a scientific way.
