Sonia Gandhi reviews C’garh’s preparedness to tackle coronavirus

Congress National President Sonia Gandhi held a video conferencing with Congress chief ministers on Thursday to review measures being taken by the Congress governments to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel through video conferencing appraised the party national president about the measures being taken by his government to check the spread of the infectious virus and the welfare measures for the migrant laborers and other people during this period of crisis. Baghel informed Sonia Gandhi that nine coronavirus positive cases were found in Chhattisgarh, in which 2 patients were discharged from the hospital.
 
Baghel informed the Congress National President that the Congress government is taking all preventive measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chhattisgarh Government has announced to give rations for two months to 62 lakh ration card holders in State. The State Government has released Rs 100 crore for payment to MGNREGS labourers. This is depite the fact that the Central Government has not released Rs 2,000 crore GST amount to Chhattisgarh so far. Besides it, Chhattisgarh has also not received Rs 400 crore fund from the Central Government so far, he added.
 
Social distancing is being maintained in State to prevent the COVID-19. Over 10,000 migrant labourers from other states are being provided food, shelter and other facilities in State. The health of people, who visited foreign countries, is being monitored closely and has been kept in quarantine centers or under strict home isolation, said Baghel. The Congress National President asked the party leaders to help the needy people, affected by the lockdown and take up all best possible efforts to tide over the situation as early as possible and to abide by all norms to check this pandemic.
