POOR people and labourers are worst hit by the pandemic. Hence, to succor those suffering, the State Government has arranged ration in advance for needy and destitute. Besides, it is also taking all necessary measures to prevent citizens from getting infected. Under these efforts, the Government is also bringing back labourers stranded in other states. Negligence and overlooking of local authorities is proving costly to Government’s efforts.

The authorities are not paying proper heed to complying with the guidelines issued to prevent coronavirus infection. Hence, taking undue advantage of such negligence, truck drivers are violating rules and minting money risking innocent lives. They are carrying migrant labourers in freight carriers like cattle. Truck drivers are overloading their vehicles and allowing a number of labourers to sit on trucks. The migrant labourers in haste of reaching home are not following Government’s guidelines regarding COVID-19. They are not maintaining mandatory social distancing.

Negligence on the part of labour class people, administration and transport authorities might prove dear to poor people and untiring efforts being made to contain and end dreadful virus. This is high time when transport authorities tighten checking at highways and bypass and protect labourers from falling prey to such mean people minting money.
