Concept of ‘Work from Home’ in the ongoing lockdown has doubled the burden for majority of the working women employed in different sectors. They have to fulfill official duties along with family responsibilities and household chores.

The corona menace has barred the entry of domestic maids in localities. As a result, these women are managing time for office works after fulfilling day-to-day chores at home including cooking, cleaning, mopping, dish washing and taking care of family members. Disappearance of domestic help on the home front has left the working women all alone for various household tasks. Domestic helps are those unsung warriors who don’t let the pressure of household chores affect the working women as they themselves take up majority of the pressure.

Blame it to the orthodox culture of Indian society where male members of the family are still considered dominants who are not supposed to help the female members in household chores, that women are suffering more. Even though both husband and wife are working and presently following the directives of ‘Work from Home’ issued by the government for prevention of COVID-19, the entire burden of household responsibilities are thrown on the women. Things are more challenging in the family with young kids. Kids are used to be taken care of by their mothers. Hence, they always look towards their mother for everything they want. Thanks to the society’s outlook that still maintains that disparity among male and female children in the family.
