On Monday, Nagpur registered death of a woman who tested positive for coronavirus after her demise. This is the third coronavirus death in last three days and seventh death in city. Meanwhile, Nagpur registered 15 COVID-19 positive cases. Relatives of this 53-year-old woman, suffering from diabetes, hid the information about the residential address. She was brought to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) in a very critical condition on Sunday late night.

While writing the papers when doctors asked about residential details, the relatives told them that she was the resident of Hansapuri. Accordingly doctors at IGGMCH tried their best but she died. As per the new guidelines, her sample was sent for the examination that came positive. Upon enquiring further, it was found, the woman was the resident of Mominpura. Doctors at IGGMCH were taken aback because of the act of relatives of the woman about hiding the information. Now, some of the paramedics, doctors might have to go into quarantine. According to one senior doctor, number of people hiding the information is taking place rampantly which is dangerous.

If the doctors treat such cases without noticing the coronavirus connection of the patient, they may have to get quarantined, effectively losing the number of healthworkers who are on frontline. Tukaram Mundhe, Municipal Commissioner has appealed every citizen not to hide the information as it would not only increase the infectivity of this dreaded virus but affect the administration’s efforts also. Meanwhile, 15 people tested positive in Nagpur for coronavirus.

Out of those 15, six cases are of Sunday late night whose samples were examined at the laboratory of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Seven including one death tested positive at IGGMCH. Two samples that tested positive were examined at the laboratory at Centre for Zonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU). With these 15 cases the number of coronavirus positive reached 361.
