RESIDENTS of several wards of the city are facing water scarcity due to leakage in the main water supply pipeline of Ramnagra Plant. Various overhead tanks, which supply potable water to almost entire city remain arid since Friday. People are facing hardships in arranging water for daily chores. Residents of various affected areas have complained about negligence of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation in supplying potable water to them.
 
People said they are not receiving drinking water through tankers, which has been promised by the civic body. Though the Water Department of JMC is carrying out repair work on war footing despite it will not be able to resume water supply till Sunday. Main water supply pineline of 120 MLD Ramnagra Plant leaked on Friday.
 
The plant fills as many as 16 overhead tanks, which supply potable water to 30 wards of the city. On Friday afternoon, the rising main burst near ICMR lab due to road drilling for laying underground cable. The Municipal Corporation is trying to restore water supply at the earliest. Meanwhile, the Department is sending water tankers to affected areas and providing potable water to denizens. But, people of many areas have complained about JMC’s negligence in providing potable water to them.
