Water crisis hits people in 35 JMC wards

With summer at its peak and the mercury crossing 44 degrees Celsius, residents of 35 municipal wards of Jabalpur are denied supply of potable water for past three days. People have lost patience and are forced to collect water from river bank of Narmada at Gwarighat as water supplied through tankers of JMC has failed to cater to need of people. Though visiting river bank is still prohibited during lockdown, people have been forced to collect water from the river bank.
 
According to information, the scarcity of potable water in the city has left major impact as around half of the city remains deprived of potable water. Leakage in the main water supply pipeline of Ramnagra Plant has made the situation extremely grim. Efforts carried out by Water Department to rectify the fault remains inconclusive and people are highly exasperated.
 
The crisis has emerged due to leakage in the main water supply pipeline of Ramnagra Plant. Despite all efforts being carried out, the fault remains to be rectified. The supply of potable water by water tankers has however proved of inefficient to meet the needs of people in scorching climate. This has eventually made people restless who at present are faced with serious trouble nad moving towards river bank in Gwarighat by defying rules of social distancing.
