All Indian Origin Chemists and Distributors Ltd (AIOCD) and Nagpur District Chemists and Druggists Association (NDCDA) have opposed the on-line sale of medicines through Aarogya Setu App. The bodies of chemists alleged that the some of the e-pharma companies are making use of the app that was recently created by the Government to check spread of corona virus in the country. “Companies like 1 MG, PharmEasy, Netmeds, Medlife are making use of the app.

It is illegal and it should be stopped in the larger interest of the society,” said Jagganath Shinde, President of the AIOCD. AIOCD has registered its strong objections over the sale of medicines through this channel. It is important to note that the AIOCD has been raising voice against illegal sale of medicine, through e-pharmacy platform and its effect on health of general public for past many days. AIOCD is discussing the matter with Union Government on various levels.

“During the lockdown due to coronavirus, chemists sand druggists all over the country have offered their services to the people. The Union Government and Planning Commission should take note of this noble gesture. However, it seems that the Government is not respecting the sentiments of the chemists and drugists,” said Rajendra Kawadkar, President of NDCDA.
