Three held with 15.7 kg pangolin scales

In a major breakthrough, combined team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and Special Task Force (STF) Jabalpur nabbed three accused involved in trade of wildlife body parts and seized 15.70 kilograms of pangolin scales, a Scooty and a motorcycle from them. The accused have been identified as Nauman Rangrez, Mohammed Naeem Quraisi of Budhar and Alok Singh of Umaria district.
 
WCCB Inspector, Devendra Singh Rathore informed that continuing a rigorous campaign against poaching of wild animals, they received information about some suspects engaged in trade of wildlife. Acting promptly on the information, a combined team of WCCB, STF and Kotwali police started a special search to identify and apprehend the accused. Continuing a rigorous search, team trapped three accused near new bus stand in Shahdol and seized 15.70 kilograms of pangolin scales from them. Inspector Rathore informed that one of the arrested, Alok Singh was engaged in trading of wildlife while Nauman Rangrez and Naeem Quraisi were collecting the scales from poachers.
 
The WCCB is investigating the case to identify and apprehend more persons involved in network of poachers and illegal trade of wildlife. According to information, the accused were apprehended with active working of team comprised of WCCB, Inspector, Devendra Singh Rathore, Inspector, Kaushik Mondal, Constable Rajiv Dixit, STF Jabalpur’s ASI, Raghuvir Singh, Shailendra Soni, Constables, Rajan, Vinod and others.
