Fitness trainers, gym owners urge for reopening of sports facilities

MEMBERS of Consolidated Fitness Trainers Welfare Association and Nagpur Gym Owners’ Association handed over a memorandum to Sports Minister Sunil Kedar requesting him to reopen gyms and sport facilities across Maharashtra, informs Pranay Tidke, President (CFTWA) through a press release. They informed Kedar that sport facilities will help in boosting immune system and that over 50,000 fitness trainers will be able to retain their employment.
 
As all the gyms and health clubs are shut since the beginning of lock down, thousands of trainers are unemployed. Due to total lockdown the health of people is degrading. They asserted to follow all the guidelines given by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and ‘Khelo India Fir Sae’. Members of both the associations agreed to adhere to the SOPS guidelines issued by SAI, Govt of India which include — mandatory use of Aarogya Setu app for all athletes and staff at the centre; disinfection of premises with clinically approved disinfectants (like 1% sodium hypochlorite solution) which have no significant side-effects on exposure through touch or smell.
 
The areas to be disinfected including but not limited to entrances (doorknobs, handles etc.) to premise, buildings, rooms, all common areas which are used by trainees, staff and visitors, playing surfaces, various equipment at the field of play, operational areas for field of play which includes control panels for irrigation system, floodlights and adjacent areas among others. The coaches and staff members will ask athletes, as they come into practice, if they feel ill in any way, specifically listing certain symptoms, and send home those athletes reporting illness or experiencing symptoms.
 
Symptoms include mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms. Kedar informed the team that he was already in discussion with Collector and NMC Commissioner and if needed he will soon discuss the matter with Chief Minister of Maharashtra and resolve the matter. Tidke, Surendra Jangde, Samresh Ubale, Rohit, Sudhanshu, Khilesh Pohankar, Atul Tikale, Sunny Shribas, Mahesh Rahangdale and others were present.
